General Outline

A substance which deforms when force is applied from the outside and which returns to its original shape when the force is removed is called an elastic material.
The relationship between the applied force and the volume of deflection is called the "spring property" and the factor which expresses the degree of this property is called the "spring constant (k)."
The relationship among the applied force (F), the volume of deflection (x) and the spring constant (k) is generally called the Hooke's law and can be expressed by the formula "F=kx."

  • *Hooke's law (law of elasticity): This is the principle that the elongation of a spring is directly proportional to the load which does not exceed the elastic limit.

There two types of spring properties which anti-vibration rubber needs to satisfy, "static spring property" and "dynamic spring property."

This is the tester used to plot graphs after measuring the static properties, including compression, tensile and hysteresis properties. Load-deflection curves can be graphed.

Dynamic property tester

Dynamic property tester

This is a test system to measure the dynamic spring constant and the damping property of anti-vibration rubber. This is useful for the measurement of dynamic properties in a wide range of frequencies from low to high. This enables the evaluation of anti-vibration performance up to the high frequency range, which could lead to a countermeasure against noise.

  • Maximum excitation frequency 200 Hz: 1 unit
  • Maximum excitation frequency 300Hz: 1 unit
  • Maximum excitation frequency 1kHz: 2 unit

This can be used for the evaluation of vibration transmissibility and natural frequencies, as well as the vibration mode analysis of anti-vibration rubber in the high frequency range.
